School Leadership Team
As you begin to create your School Leadership Teams, you may be asking yourself, “Just who should be on my School Leadership Team?” Consider including the following individuals:
- Assistant Principal(s)
- Content Coaches
- School Transformation Coach
- 2 – 3 Teacher Leaders
- 1 Significant Support Personnel
These individuals must attend IMPACT Training as they will be integral to the work ahead. For more information on the purpose and expectations of the School Leadership Team, please refer to GRAPHIC 1.1: SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAM under Resources.
The Self-Portrait will be a fundamental part of the upcoming IMPACT training and will help you and your School Leadership Team design future goals around your school’s priorities. The Self-Portrait will be a constant indication of your school’s values and an ever evolving representation of your school’s priorities.
DPS SIG5 Schools will need to bring a physical self-portrait to IMPACT Training, thus we recommend creating this on chart paper. Be specific and consider using bulleted list, colored markers/pens, stickers, data, and other artifacts you can think of to brand your school. If necessary, review GRAPHIC 1.2: SCHOOL SELF-PORTRAIT CONSIDERATIONS under Resources for more information on what to include in your Self-Portrait.

Shouts Out to WG Pearson!
What was most impressive about WG Pearson’s Learning Tour was not the fruit and danishes, but the following:
- Active engagement of the School Leadership Team (SLT)
- An agenda, outlining expectations for the tour
- A physical tour of classrooms and meeting spaces
- A School Self-Potrait, including
- A video highlighting the school’s STEAM focus
- A description of the school’s culture
- A comprehensive review of school data
- An identification of the school’s instructional focus areas
- A review of the School Improvement Plan, Goals, and Strategies
- Artifacts of implementation processes including templates
From this school visit, we obtained a crystal clear image of the school’s self-portrait!
